Ship Security
Maintaining the security of a ship and its cargo has always been the role
and responsibility of the Ship Master as well as responsibility falling
on officers and crew.
The
focus of the world on Global terrorism was highlighted following the attacks
on the World Trade Centre in New York, hence the development of the new
International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS) code, which will
enter into force on the 1st July 2004.
About
SubServ
Since 1995 SubServ has been involved in training, competence assurance
management and development within the maritime industry, delivering safety
training to some of the most influential companies within the subsea industry
on a global basis.
The recent
high profile of the terrorist threat to world trade, and the subsequent
inception of the International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS)
code, has created a need for shipping companies and port facility operators
to urgently address their responsibilities in this area. In developing
courses to assist in meeting these demands SubServ has drawn on its
strong ties in marine management, its strength in training delivery and
extensive experience of its security consultants.
The ship security training courses that we have available have been
developed to comply with the ISPS code and have gained accreditation from
the MCA to allow delegates to be issued with certificates of training that
satisfy the MCA with respect to CSO and SSO and TRANSEC in respect of PFSO
requirements. In addition, the 'ISPS Awareness' and 'ISPS Overview' courses
are available for all personnel who are not necessarily required to receive
formal training under the ISPS code, but would benefit from the knowledge
these courses will provide.
Courses are delivered at both our training facilities situated in the north
& south of the country in Kendal in Cumbria and Boreham in Essex. In
addition all courses can be delivered 'In-house' at clients preferred
locations (subject to training facility approval). The 1 and 2 day awareness
and overview courses may also be delivered aboard vessels if required.
Complete
ISPS training and/or implementation packages are available which include
Ship Security/Port Facility Security Assessments and Ship
Security/Port Facility Security Plans. ISPS awareness/overview training
and ship or port security assessments can easily be undertaken on board
vessels or at ports wherever their locations world wide.
As well as
company ship management and command experience our ISPS instructors and
consultants have a wide range of high security experience
including ex police officers with extensive experience in firearms response
and anti-terrorist armed response units as well as general and marine
risk assessment.
Whatever
your ISPS requirements, we offer a full ISPS service, please feel free
to contact us for more information or advise.
